The Dorey Method Strategy [cityname]

Let's do something meaningful together

The Dorey Method Program of Integrative Study in United States of America is also used as an Impact Study as an integrative, unique approach (in the form of a one-year intensive training course) that creates and sustains an individual’s capacity to become and continually evolve into an emotionally, intellectually, socially, spiritually and physically healthy person through nine infield-tested methodologies. The Dorey Method specializes in restoring an individual’s well-being from years of trauma, abuses and violence founded on the core fundamental principle of The Affirmative Environment. The safe, positive atmosphere within The Affirmative Environment allows individuals the opportunity to excel and fail forward, which promotes personal growth and learning while healing.

The Dorey Method in United States of America

The point of distinction with The Dorey Method in United States of America is its ability to include and affirmatively teach all nine methodologies with personalized strategies to the whole individual – mind, body and soul. These are taught under the direction of The Dorey Method founder Kathysue Dorey as follows:

Your Belief System working papers and our letter to each new Cohort member of our Impact Study.
  1. Your Belief System (YBS) has two components that create Transcendence: Change and Transition. The first – Change – is re-defining your external belief system by asking the question, “Who do you need to be to live your purpose?” It is not about what individuals want. Rather it is about what they NEED in relation to WHO they are. If individuals do not know who they are, how can they make positive, healthy choices in their lives? Based on Peterson & Seligman (2004) Transcendence Strategy in Positive Psychology, this methodology delves into values, behaviors and attributes (re-defined external beliefs) that are important to the individual.

The second – Transition – is the process of living your re-defined external beliefs and internalizing them, thus creating an authentic you and real Transcendence. Change is oftentimes the easier component as Transition into Transcendence is a process that needs assistance in the form of a mentor who will walk with you through the journey of Transition.

  • The methodology of Creative Problem-Solving (CPS) developed by Miller, Firestien & Vehar (2007) teaches how to identify challenges in order to find and implement novel solutions in an affirmative way. Many times, individuals experience road blocks without any idea “how to” go from A to Z, thus the perpetuation of negative, unhealthy choices leading to a defeatist mindset of feeling trapped in one’s life. The ability to problem solve is crucial to becoming and evolving into a healthier, happier, more hopeful individual.
  • The Thinking Skills Model (TSM) that was developed by Puccio, Mance & Murdock (2011) includes teaching cognitive skills (Diagnostic, Visionary, Strategic, Ideational, Evaluative, Contextual and Tactical Thinking), and affective skills (Mindfulness, Dreaming, Sensing Gaps, Playfulness, Avoiding Premature Closure, Sensitivity to Environment and Tolerance for Risks). This is a significant methodology in creating one’s vision for the future, which leads to identifying purpose in an individual’s life.
  • The Leadership Challenge (TLC) by Kouzes & Posner (2010) teaches five leadership practices (Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act and Encourage the Heart). Most individuals already practice these skills unknowingly and just need to realize and embrace the leaders that they already are. By teaching what these five leadership practices are, individuals oftentimes feel better, more confident about themselves and the process of understanding the importance of self-perception takes hold.
  • The Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQi), originated by Dr. Rueven Bar-On before being purchased by MHS, Inc. (2011), acts as the baseline for individuals and monitors the credibility of The Dorey Method.  Within this methodology, the emotional and social core competencies of Self Perception, Self Expression, Interpersonal, Decision Making and Stress Management are taught. It is during this learning experience that individuals learn about themselves emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically. Negative and positive behaviors are discussed. Change is initiated, understood, embraced and used toward bettering an individual’s ability to assess situations realistically, make decisions more rationally, incorporate Mindfulness and Meta-Cognition so as to stabilize their emotions. Within this methodology, an individual comes face to face with their true, authentic Self in all its glorious mess.
  • The FourSight® Thinking Profile as developed by Puccio (2014) teaches how to embrace and utilize the creative preference styles/differences individuals inherently possess. Knowing how to identify these styles (Clarifier, Ideator, Developer, Implementor and Integrator) helps individuals work together as team players in personal and professional frameworks.
  • The Savi Approach (SAVI) is from the Accelerated Learning methodology developed by Meier (2000), which helps individuals retain and understand information faster and at a greater proficiency level by utilizing the four senses (Somatic, Auditory, Visual and Intellect). This method shows individuals how to teach themselves new information empowering them with intellectual confidence.
  • The Chain of Defense™ self-defense principles in conjunction with the distilled pure Krav Maga discipline founded by Boaz Aviram, builds an individual’s self worth in their capacity to physically and non-physically protect themselves. The inner strength and resolve that is realized within this methodology is unrivaled.

The desire to pursue greatness for others within the Servant Leadership (SRL) methodology is where the spiritual wellbeing takes hold. There are many resources (the Bible, Scripture essays/writings, spiritual leaders, motivational leaders) that are embraced, discussed, interpreted and used on an individual-by-individual basis.
